20 areas of England with highest death rate as Covid infections rise

The latest statistics list the 20 areas in England where Covid-19 has been killed the most.

Three areas in the south-east of England have reportedly seen the highest coronavirus death rates The mirror.

Castle Point and Tendring recorded the highest number of deaths relative to their population, according to Folkestone and Hythe, according to official figures.

The list of the top twenty most common death rates includes several areas around Essex and Kent where the UK variant of Covid started spreading in December.

The “Kent” variant spread from the southeast and became the most dominant strain of the virus in Great Britain. It then spread to Europe and other parts of the world.

The latest infection rate figures show that almost half of all English areas are still seeing increases in Covid infection rates.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 130 (41%) have seen case rates increase, 175 (56%) have decreased and 10 are unchanged.

Corby in Northamptonshire continues to have the highest rate in England. In the seven days ending March 27, 155 new cases were registered, which is 214.6 cases per 100,000 people.

That’s unchanged at 214.6 per 100,000 in the seven days ending March 20.

With 453 new cases, Rotherham has the second highest rate from 137.1 to 170.7.

North Warwickshire has the third highest rate with 110 new cases from 73.5 to 168.5.
