'A new low': The Chase fans wowed as contestant mixes up Oasis and Spice Girls

Chase fans were deeply stunned after Contestant asked Charlene a question that many thought was an easy question on The Chase.

The Essex fitness trainer competed against new chaser Darragh Ennis on the latest installment of the hit ITV game show.

Unfortunately for the 38-year-old, she could only correctly answer one of her questions about the Cash Builder, which unsettled her before the direct duel with Darragh.

But Charlene lost confidence in herself and all the confidence fans back home after answering her first question.

Bradley asked her, “‘Backbeat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart goes out’ is a lyric that came from the ’90s hit?”

Charlene had the usual choice of three answers, including Britney Spears “Baby One More Time,” “Wannabe” from the Spice Girls, and “Wonderwall” from Oasis.

It took longer than expected for both Darragh and Charlene to respond, but Charlene chose B, ‘Wannabe’.

Bradley asked Charlene about her choice, to whom she said, “They all sound similar, so could that be it?”

The answer flashed green over the correct answer, ‘Wonderwall’, and Charlene was visibly frustrated after realizing her mistake.

Darragh made the right choice and fans took to Twitter in disbelief.

One person tweeted: “A contestant who confuses the lyrics to Wonderwall (Oasis) with Wannabe (Spice Girls) must be a new time low for The Chase, no ?!”

Another added, “Desire to get the ‘Wonderwall’ question wrong.”

A third tweet: “Who doesn’t know the lyrics to Wonderwall? Worse still, which woman doesn’t know the full lyrics to Wannabe?”

You can see the moment Charlene got the question wrong in the video above.

The Chase returns on ITV every weekday at 5 p.m. with brand new episodes.
