Alex Beresford liked a rude tweet about good karma just hours after replacing Piers Morgan at Good Morning Britain.
The Weather Man took on a new role as the GMB’s main presenter this week, taking the place Piers previously held before quitting on his comments on Meghan Markel and Prince Harry.
Shortly after the last show of the week, Alex hit social media and reportedly liked a cheeky tweet posted by radio and TV host Maya Jama the mirror.
Maya’s tweet that Alex liked was, “Good things come when you’re not a p *** k.”
A man’s father recently won viewers’ respect after condemning Piers Morgan for his relentless alignment with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
Defending the Duchess, Alex told Piers – who had complained that he had spoken to Meghan Markle earlier, before she married Prince Harry – that she had the right to cut him off.
The spitting resulted in Piers storming the GMB set.
Alex also described the host’s comments on Meghan as “devilish”.
Piers later returned to the set, but it was later reported that broadcaster Ofcom received more than 41,000 complaints about Piers’ behavior. The drama continued when ITV announced later that evening that Piers would no longer lead the popular series with immediate effect.
ITV has yet to replace him.
In a statement shared after Piers’ departure, Alex admitted that he didn’t want his co-star to quit – he just wanted him to listen.
In a post on Twitter, he wrote: “There is so much to be said. Pier’s exit was frankly not the conclusion I was hoping for.
“Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky relationship on the air for the past few years. We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning and from our very public conversations TwitterWe both knew how different our opinions about Harry and Meghan’s treatment were before and after the interview that divided the world.
“I hoped we could reach a place of understanding. It’s sad we couldn’t get there, but questioning his opinion was not outrage. On this occasion we must agree not to agree.
“I didn’t want him to stop, but I wanted him to listen.
“Personally, Piers has always supported my growth. He has given me several pieces of advice and I am grateful for that. I wish him all the best!”
Ben Shepherd has temporarily stood up for Piers Morgan with Adil Ray.
After Alex’s stint in the main chair on Friday, he’s the bookmaker’s favorite to take on the role.
Coral bookmakers confirmed that the chances of Alex becoming a permanent moderator and Piers’ replacement have been reduced from 8-1 to 2-1.
Coral’s John Hill said, “Alex Beresford stepped into the moderation role at GMB this morning and on that basis his chances of making a permanent appearance have been cut.”
“GMB are clearly taking their time to announce Piers Morgan’s replacement and after having his chance to shine today, Beresford is now shortlisted.”
