Angela Merkel’s first coronavirus test result is negative

BERLIN – Chancellor Angela Merkel’s first coronavirus test was negative, her spokesman said on Monday.

“The test result of today’s test is negative,” said the German government spokesman Steffen Seibert to the German press agency DPA in Berlin. “More tests will be done in the next few days.”

A single negative test result does not necessarily mean A person does not carry the virus because the sample may have been taken at a very early stage of the infection.

The German Chancellor is currently working in self-isolation from home after being informed late Sunday that a doctor who gave her pneumococcal vaccination last Friday tested positive for the virus over the weekend.
