A mother attacked Morrisons for his slow response when calling emergency services when a man collapsed outside one of his stores.
A schoolgirl saw a man collapse on the floor of one of the grocer’s branches and rushed in to tell an employee.
She went back outside to take care of the man while the paramedics arrived.
But after waiting ten minutes no one showed up, and the schoolgirl decided to call the West Midlands Ambulance Service herself.
The mom said StokeonTrentLive : “My 15-year-old daughter went to Morrisons and on the way home noticed a man who was unresponsive in the parking lot.
“She went back to the store and explained that she didn’t want to leave him there because she didn’t know if he was dead or alive. A member of staff told her to speak to a lady at the kiosk.
“She was told they would send management to see if he was okay. She left the shop and waited with the man. But after 10 minutes, with no one showing, she decided to call an ambulance and waiting with the man until they got there, luckily the man seemed fine when the paramedics were with him.
“I am utterly disgusted that a 15-year-old girl left the store to deal with this situation. I am so angry that my daughter was left in this situation, which could have led to a completely different outcome.”
The West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said, “We were called to the Morrisons parking lot for reports of a medical emergency and an ambulance was on site. We examined a patient, a man who could be discharged on site. “
Morrison’s spokesman said, “We know the gentleman in question. We had only helped him earlier in the day by giving him something to drink and helping him on his way.
“The colleagues in the store had problems because our IT systems and telephones were temporarily out of order. We are therefore grateful to the young woman for calling an ambulance.”
