Ant McPartlin said he would be “excited” because I’m a celebrity … get me out of here! return to Wales.
The final series of the ITV program was filmed for the first time in the UK after the coronavirus pandemic forced producers to abandon plans to do the program at its usual base in Australia.
McPartlin told Digital Spy that he would miss the Australian weather even though they would like to stay in the UK.
“If we stay in Wales during the coronavirus and have to do it again, I would be very happy,” said McPartlin, who will host the program alongside Declan Donnelly.
He said they are ‘welcome’ in Wales, adding, ‘There were cardboard clippings of me and Dec in the butcher’s shop and the local school has paid a tribute.
“We’d love to go back there. We’d miss the sunshine.”
Donnelly added: “The people of Wales have been very nice. They made us feel very welcome.
“I had a great time. I will miss the sunshine, but I will not miss the jet lag of returning from Australia.
“I would like to go back to Oz. But if we had to go back to Wales I would not be disappointed.”
The last series of the program, filmed at Gwrych Castle near Abergele in North Wales, was won by podcast host Giovanna Fletcher.
McPartlin also discussed his recent engagement with Anne-Marie Corbett.
“It was a nice way to end the year,” he said.
“I’m a romantic at heart. You know, there were flowers and afternoon tea in front of the Christmas tree.”
When asked if Donnelly would be the best man at his wedding, he said, “He was very good last time. He was my best man. I was his best man.
“But I suppose it depends on what kind of wedding we’re having. There were no plans. “
