Apple accused of knowingly reducing lifespan

Technology giant Apple faced an allegation for the repairability of its devices in the investigation conducted by the Environmental Audit Committee. The commission claimed that Apple shortened the life of the devices by reducing their recoverability.

US-based technology giant Apple was recently fined for deliberately slowing down its iPhone model smartphones. The company was fined $ 113 million for this so-called “ battery door ” situation. But Apple’s problem is not over yet.

According to The Guardian’s report, an investigation by the Environmental Audit Committee is putting enormous pressure on technology giants such as Apple. It is reported that companies are not taking all necessary precautions with regard to their electronic waste. However, Apple is also being criticized from another side in the same case.

In trouble due to low reparability:

We all know how difficult it is to fix Apple’s technology devices. This has led to UK MPs accusing Apple of “established obsolescence.” Parliamentarians claimed Apple intentionally made their products difficult to repair.

In their report, MPs complained about Apple’s built-in obsolescence, saying it shortened the lifespan of the company’s devices. Research by parliamentarians found that technology companies such as Apple glue and solder internal components, making repair virtually impossible.

The same report said that Apple devices in particular are extremely expensive to fix, confusing their users. The report stated that this confusion eventually prompted users to renew their product. Apple was quick to respond to MPs’ report on both the environment and this claim:

“We were surprised and disappointed by the Environmental Audit Committee’s report, which did not reflect Apple’s resources and efforts to protect the planet we all share. There are more options for customers to trade, recycle, and make safer get quality repairs than ever before, and the latest Apple Watch, iPad. and all of our iPhones use recycled content in key components. ”

“We will continue to work with parliament and the government to document Apple’s leading commitments and support our joint efforts to leave a clean economy and a healthy planet for the next generation.”
