Apple talks to produce iPads in India

It is said that a resource of 70 billion rupees will be provided over five years with India’s stimulus package. However, it is claimed that Apple wanted the size of this package to increase to 200 billion rupees. It is said that a larger stimulus package is being sought because India’s supply chain is not meeting Apple’s manufacturing standards.

Apple has been producing iPhones in India since 2018. The company made such a decision because of the additional customs charges levied in India. Apple also wants to distribute Chinese weight in its production.

According to Nikkei, the company will move some of its iPad production to Vietnam later this year. When this happens, Apple will have its popular tablet manufactured in a country other than China for the first time.

According to sources speaking with Reuters, Apple will work with one of its existing manufacturing partners to produce iPads in India. The company’s manufacturing partners in the country are Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron.
