At least 10 injured during knife, arson and acid attack on train as passengers flee

One man was left in critical condition while more than 10 others were injured in a knife, burn and acid attack on a major train line in Tokyo on Sunday evening.

According to local media reports, the attack took place when many partygoers were walking downtown for Halloween gatherings.

The alleged attacker, a man in his 20s, was arrested on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder.

The attack occurred around 8 p.m. on the Keio Railway Line on a train to Shinjuku, the busiest train station in the world

A video uploaded to Twitter and broadcast on NHK showed a steady stream of passengers running away from a train car.

Seconds later, a small fire seemed to start.

“Stop the car. I’m getting off, ”one of the passengers could be heard saying when the train arrived at a station.

Another video posted on Twitter showed passengers exiting the train through the windows.

The doors of the car still appeared to be closed.

It was unclear how many injuries were caused by the knife stabbing, the fire or passengers fleeing Japan times reported.

At least one man in his 60s is reportedly in critical condition.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, the man is said to have sprayed hydrochloric acid in the first and second cars of the train before setting them on fire.
