BBC apologises after showing Christian Eriksen being treated on pitch

The BBC have apologized for Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen receiving CPR on the pitch after his collapse.

The Danish player fell to the ground in the European Championship game against Finland.

Players from both teams crowded around him, forming a human shield while he was treated by paramedics.

UEFA later confirmed that Eriksen had been hospitalized and stabilized while the Danish Football Association said the player was awake.

The game was paused but will resume later that evening.

Fans who watched the game on BBC One were shocked by the scenes and many were saddened when the player was treated on the pitch.

The broadcaster has now apologized.

The BBC said: “Everyone at the BBC is hoping Christian Eriksen will make a full recovery.

“We apologize to everyone who was upset about the images broadcast. The stadium coverage is controlled by Uefa as host broadcaster, and as soon as the game was interrupted, we got our coverage out of thin air as soon as possible. “
