When asked by CNN’s Dana Bash about “State of the Union” on Sunday after the photo and subsequent memes, Sanders said he was “having fun” with the viral moment. He added that he turned the image into sweatshirts and t-shirts that he sells in his campaign store. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Vermont charities that focus on fighting hunger.
“What we’re doing here in Vermont is we sell sweatshirts and t-shirts all over the country. And all of the money that is raised, which I expect to be a few million dollars, will go towards programs like Meals on Wheels that feed low-income seniors, “Sanders said. “So it turns out it’s a good thing, not just a fun thing.”
