There are plenty of exciting and highly anticipated recurring TV shows to look forward to in 2022.
Many of them are returning for their final series – Derry Girls, Peaky Blinders, and Happy Valley, to name a few.
Some of the programs ahead of you include the return of ITV’s The Good Karma Hospital, the final series of BBC’s Killing Eve and Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge making a comeback.

Peaky Blinders – BBC One – early 2022
The sixth series of the hit-period crime drama is slated to air in early 2022, but we don’t have a confirmed date yet. Clips teasing the new episodes show Cillian Murphy repeating his role as Tommy Shelby and Tom Hardy returns as Alfie Solomon’s Jewish gang leader.
Stephen Graham will also have a guest appearance on this latest and final series. It also has There are rumors that a film may be in the pipeline for the future.
Derry Girls – Channel 4 – TBC
The comedy is about a group of school girls – and a guy! – Northern Ireland returns for its final season.
Filming of the final episodes was completed in December, and the cast has already emotionally bid their characters goodbye.
Siobhán McSweeney, who plays sister Michael, posted a picture of her costume with the words, “Goodbye, you crazy woman. You changed my life. I know you would hate to hear that, but I love you. #DerryGirls #srmichaelforever “

Bridgerton – Netflix – TBC
The wait for Bridgerton’s second season is almost over. The first series had 82 million households fixated on the love story between the Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton, and many fans are excited to see what the rest of the Bridgerton family will expect.
In the latest series, the cast will return, but this time the plot centers on Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) alongside Simone Ashley as his potential bride (Kate Sharma).
Vera – ITV – Jan 9th at 8 p.m.
Brenda Blethyn returns as DCI Vera Stanhope as Series 11 resumes this January with four new two-hour specials on ITV.
Some familiar faces will join the cast including Line of Duty and Doctor Who stars Craig Parkinson, EastEnders Ann Mitchell, Jaye Griffiths of Bugs and Silent Withness, ITV’s The Tower star Nabil Elouahabi, Emmerdale and Coronation Street actor Bill Ward and Holby City’s Hugh Quarshie.
Happy Valley – BBC One – TBC
Sally Wainwright’s Happy Valley returns for a third and final season that stars Sarah Lancashire as Sergeant Catherine Cawood. A chain of events is ignited in this final series when Catherine discovers the remains of a gang murder victim in an emptied reservoir and all of their traces lead them straight back to Tommy Lee Royce.
James Norton will repeat his role as Catherine’s archenemy, murderer and sex offender Tommy, while Siobhan Finneran will also return as Catherine’s sister and addict Clare Cartwright will recover.
Code 404 – Heaven – TBC
Last November it was announced that the futuristic crime comedy Code 404, starring Stephen Graham and Daniel Mays, will return for a third season. The first series made history by becoming the fastest original Sky comedy box set ever.
In the third series, one of their own SIU is murdered and Major (Mays) and Carver (Graham) are determined to solve the case and prove their worth. – but soon notice that they have planned more than they dreamed of.
Grace and Frankie – Netflix – TBC
For the final series, the popular comedy starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin returns. It follows two women, Grace and Frankie, as their worlds are turned upside down after their husbands reveal they are gay and have had an affair behind their back for years.
The final episodes, which will air in 2022, will see a reunion with her former 9-to-5 film co-star Dolly Parton, who makes a surprise appearance. If you haven’t seen this before, you have six seasons of episodes to watch, good fun!
Gentleman Jack – BBC One – TBC
Filming of the long-awaited second season of Gentleman Jack in October. We hope you don’t have to wait long for Suranne Jones to return as Anne Lister and Sophie Rundle as Anne’s wife, Anne.
The cheeky historical drama is based on a collection of Anne Lister’s diaries from the early 19th century. There is not yet a release date for the second season.
Brassic – Heaven – TBC
Comedy-drama Brassic, starring Joe Gilgun as Vinnie, returns to Sky for a fourth season. If you haven’t seen the third series and don’t want spoilers, scroll down to the next TV show …
At the end of season three, Vinnie formed a troubled alliance with Detective Slater to finally tear crime boss Terence McCann out of his and Erin’s hair. Erin, played by Michelle Keegan and the mother of Vinnie’s son Tyler, decided to pack her bags and move away without telling anyone. The last we saw was Vinnie driving around to find the couple before it was too late. Will he catch up with Erin?
After Life – Netflix – January 14th
The black comedy-drama is created, written, directed and starred with comedian and actor Ricky Gervais Return to the Netflix streaming platform for the last time in 2022.
The critically acclaimed series follows Ricky’s character Tony as his world is turned upside down after the loss of his wife.
