Biden to ban travel from South Africa, reinstate restrictions on Brazil and U.K.

The move takes place after Biden’s chief physician Anthony Fauci, warned that again, More infectious strains of Covid in South Africa and Brazil could reduce the effectiveness of the two vaccines administered in the United States.

No exceptions for airlines: The White House official also confirmed that the administration would not allow airlines to make exemptions from a separate regulation due to go into effect this week. All international travelers are required to provide evidence of a negative Covid test prior to boarding US airlines that have temporarily requested exemptions that allow them to carry some travelers from countries with limited testing capacity.

However, CDC officials told Reuters that they would be considering humanitarian exemptions for some travelers on a case-by-case basis.
