Boris Johnson tests positive for coronavirus

LONDON – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, making him the first major global leader to become infected with the disease that triggered a global pandemic.

“I developed mild symptoms of the coronavirus, that is, a temperature and a persistent cough,” Johnson said in a video posted on his Twitter account. “But don’t doubt that thanks to the magic of modern technology, I can continue to communicate with my entire top team to lead the national fight against the corona virus.”

The Prime Minister had mild symptoms on Thursday and did a test on the personal advice of English Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty.
