Boy, 15, left in an induced coma after brutal attack which lasted 15 minutes

A teenager was left in a coma after a brutal daylight attack that allegedly lasted more than 15 minutes.

The 15-year-old is said to have been attacked by a large group of teenagers in a parking lot in a pub and sustained serious head injuries.

The victim was celebrating his first week of school with two friends in front of the Shoppingtown Hotel in Doncaster, Melbourne, when the alleged attackers approached.

He was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital after going home from the incident. His mother admitted she was horrified.

“He was disoriented. He didn’t know his name or what happened,” she said 9News. “I’m just grateful that he’s still breathing properly.

“He could have been killed.”

The heartbroken mother, who has stood by her “gentle soul” son since his admission, said she became concerned when he didn’t answer the phone.

Four 15-year-old boys were arrested Monday in connection with the attack and charged with criminal offenses, including willful willful serious injuries.

One of the defendants was held in custody until November 18.

The others are due before the juvenile court at a later date.

Rohan Courtis, Detective Senior Sergeant, Manningham Investigation Unit, said: “The police are working to ensure that this behavior does not continue and those who commit serious and violent crimes will be held accountable.

“We worked quickly to arrest these four young men. However, our investigation is ongoing and we look forward to hearing from everyone who witnessed the incident.”

The police are asking anyone who may have a cell phone camera or dash cam footage from the area to report.
