Bride ashamed of Size 22 figure in her wedding photos loses 6st

One new bride was so ashamed of her size 22 figure in her wedding photos that she was spurred on to lose 6th place.

Verity Trueman, 30, weighed 2 pounds at 17st as she walked down the aisle after years of eating takeaway, snacks, and ice cream.

Weeks after tying the knot, Verity received the wedding photos but was appalled at their bulky size and burst into tears.

Six months later, she was inspired to join Slimming World in January 2019 and immediately started seeing the weight drop.

Verity traded her high-calorie diet for fruit and low-fat homemade meals, and within two years she dropped a whopping 6th place.

She now weighs 11.2 pounds and has dropped to a slim dress size of 8-10.

Verity even gained the confidence to leave her husband and find a new job as an assistant service manager at a dealership.

Verity of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warks. Said, “Looking back, I can see that I was not happy in my relationship before we got married.

“I sought consolation from eating and put on weight very quickly in the run-up to the wedding.

“My weight had become such an issue that something as simple as putting on a seat belt was a nightmare as the clip digged painfully into my leg.

“I was always tired, everything hurt, and I couldn’t even do a simple 10 minute workout without pain.

“The last straw was to see my wedding photos.

“I cried for days after looking at her. I was the greatest I had ever been, and for months I couldn’t even bring myself to look at these pictures again.

“I hated everything about myself and began to hide my true personality and my body.”

Verity joined a Slimming World group in Chipping Campden, Gloss, with her father for assistance.

After losing 4 pounds in her first week, Verity was taught how to eat healthy foods like lean meats, potatoes, pasta, fruits, and vegetables.

Verity’s diet used to consist of convenience food, snacks, chips, candy, and chocolate – and even skipped breakfast.

She said, “I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, so I’ve tried every diet I can think of.

“At Slimming World I noticed that I never felt hungry because I could enjoy all of my favorite foods like pasta.

“My favorite food is Chili Beef Mac ‘n’ Cheese – something you could never enjoy while losing weight.

“I really loved how I could tailor the plan to my likes and dislikes.

“It really impressed me because I knew that if I had to go without foods like pasta and chocolate I would be completely off track.

“The group was really great too. Being around people who understand what it feels like to struggle with your weight has been really comforting and I’ve relied on their support throughout.

“After a year of traveling my group switched to a virtual service when we entered a national lockdown, but I attended it every week to check in and stay on track.

“Of course there were times when I had a bump – an unexpected increase or a little wobble.

“I found it very helpful to keep a food journal or research the menu before eating so I could make healthier choices.”

Verity Trueman after her weight loss

In recognition of her incredible weight loss, Verity was named Miss Slinky 2022 by Slimming World.

She added, “I used to be in pain in all forms of activity, I could barely climb stairs without gasping for air.

“Now I have a whole wardrobe for sportswear. I enjoy pilates and spinning classes and always feel great afterwards.

“When I was the hardest, it was like my unhappiness invaded every aspect of my life.

“I wore dark, baggy clothes because I thought they would take off and I would blend in so I wouldn’t be noticed.

“Now I am proud of who I am and what I have overcome. The world feels exciting and new – and I can’t wait to see what’s next. “VERITY’S
