British man, 56, tragically dies falling 150ft from beauty spot in Mallorca

A British man has reportedly died after falling 150 feet from a beauty spot in Mallorca.

The victim, believed to be 56 years old, fell from a viewpoint on the Spanish island this afternoon.

Local reports say he is British but lives in Mallorca.

The tragedy occurred at the Es Colomer viewpoint in Formentor on the northern tip of the island.

A probe was launched into the death with reports that the man has fallen 45 meters.

Police are believed to have interviewed at least one eyewitness who saw a man near the security railing.

According to information, the emergency services were alerted around 3 p.m.

The man fell from the lookout onto rocks and teams of specialists had to be called in to recover his body.

Due to the difficult terrain, a civil guard helicopter was also called.

Mallorca also made headlines last week when a British teenager went missing.

14-year-old Taya O’Loughlin disappeared in front of her school in Palma, the island’s capital.

A manhunt was started and the authorities involved, with the Foreign Office describing the situation as “extremely worrying”.

Taya’s mother confirmed that on March 25, she was reunited with her daughter, who was safe.

Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, is popular with tourists and British ex-pats.
