Can Democrats Beat the Odds in 2022?

Would you give big bucks to the Democrats who win big in 2022? Recently, a wealthy progressive donor on a listserv for political junkies said he expected the Democrats to sweep the House and Senate by a wide margin. Of course, conventional wisdom says that Democrats are likely to lose control of the House and possibly the Senate, abruptly ending the ongoing reforms that President Biden is pushing. But can Democrats beat the odds next year?

The giver’s argument is that the recovery will be in full swing by 2022, unemployment will fall and sentiment will rise. At the same time, former President Donald Trump is destroying the Republican Party, dividing it internally and discrediting it externally by demanding that its leaders and candidates confess his “big lie” about the 2020 elections and embrace the hatred and madness that he spits out. The party has no coherent agenda, it just offers obstacles and abuse of impending socialism, defusing the police and abolishing culture. Senate Minority Chairman Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Is again campaigning to block anything Democrats support, including even a non-partisan independent Commission to investigate the January 6th uprising.

No wonder then, according to Gallup Republican identification Forty percent of adults with Democrats is the largest void the polling station has reported in nearly a decade, at 49 percent. Supporters of the establishment wing of the GOP announce (not yet formed) efforts to ask Trump for control of the party. Some companies have expressed at least temporary dismay at the Republicans’ efforts Suppress the vote in states.
