Captain Tom Moore was hospitalized with Covid-19, his daughter has confirmed.
The popular NHS fundraiser is also being treated for pneumonia but is currently not in intensive care.
A statement on Twitter said the 100-year-old was hospitalized on Sunday (January 31st) after needing “help with breathing”.
His daughter Hannah said, “I wanted to let everyone know that my father was hospitalized today.
“He has been treated for pneumonia in the past few weeks and tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
“He was at our house to this day when he needed extra help with breathing.
“He’s being treated in a ward even though he’s not in the intensive care unit.
“The medical care he has received over the past few weeks has been remarkable and we know the wonderful staff at Bedford Hospital will do everything possible to make him comfortable and hopefully return home as soon as possible.
“We understand that everyone will wish him well. We will of course focus on my father and will update you when we are able.”
