Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen has been discharged from hospital after a successful operation for a defibrillator implant.
The 29-year-old Inter Milan playmaker had to be reanimated on the pitch in the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen after suffering cardiac arrest in the 0-1 defeat of Euro 2020 in Group B against Finland on Saturday evening.
Eriksen has now returned home after having an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) put on while visiting his Danish teammates.
In a statement from the Danish Association it says: “Christian Eriksen has had a successful operation and was released from Rigshospitalet today.
“Today he also visited the national team in Helsinger and will go home from there and spend time with his family.”
Eriksen added in a statement: “Thanks for the many greetings, it was amazing to see and feel.
“The operation went well and, given the circumstances, I am fine.
“It was great to see the guys again after the fantastic game last night.
“Needless to say, I’ll be cheering them on against Russia on Monday.”
