Chris Cuomo wrote on Twitter that he received a test after saying that he had been exposed to several people who tested positive for the virus. He is one of many other journalists who contracted the disease.
“I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this disease!” Cuomo posted on Twitter. “I was quarantined in my basement (which actually pleases the rest of the family) I’m going to do my shows from here. We’ll all overcome this by being smart and hard and united! “
The CNN anchor was announced shortly before the start of his daily governor’s press conference, telling reporters that there were over 75,000 coronavirus cases in New York and 1,500 deaths in the state. Asked about his brother’s diagnosis, the governor took the opportunity to gently rip his brother and warn the public.
“He is young, in good shape, strong – not as strong as he thinks, but he will be fine,” said Governor Cuomo. “But that has a lesson. He’s an important worker, member of the press. He was out there. If you go out there, you’re very likely to get infected.”
The governor also remembered punishing his brother two weeks ago for not seeing his mother. Governor Cuomo remembered their conversation and said his brother had told him that her mother felt locked in her apartment, a feeling the governor described as good but dangerous.
“Sweet guy. And now he’s quarantined in the basement, but he’s damn funny. He says to me that even the dogs won’t come down,” said the governor. “My brother is smart, he acted out of love. Fortunately we understood it early enough. But it’s my family, it’s your family, it’s all our families.”
