The death toll from coronavirus has increased again. Another 18 deaths were reported in hospitals in the UK.
Of the most recent deaths, 17 were reported in hospitals in England, one in Scotland and none in Wales and Northern Ireland.
The increase brings the total number of deaths in hospitals in England with Covid-19 listed on death certificates to 29,908.
Four of the most recent deaths have occurred in the Midlands. Other deaths have been recorded in London (one), North East & Yorkshire (five), North West (five) and South East (two).
The patients were between 49 and 93 years old. All but one person (59 years old) had known underlying diseases.
The date of death is between September 21 and 26. Their families have been informed.
Today’s increase is due to 34 deaths among people with Covid-19.
Health officials confirmed yesterday that 20 people had died in hospitals in England and three in Wales. There have been no deaths in Scotland while Northern Ireland has not yet released its daily number.
There were 11 deaths under other circumstances.
