A cruel stepmother who killed her husband’s young son by putting him in a bath of boiling water has been imprisoned.
The woman, whose name was not disclosed, killed the two-year-old victim after a heated argument with her husband over the children.
The father had asked her to look after his two children aged 4 and 2 from another relationship and an argument ensued.
She then decided to “take revenge” for being forced to look after the children by killing her husband’s young son, according to court records.
Despite unsuccessful attempts to appeal the verdict, the woman was imprisoned for the terrible crime for 20 years.
The shocking incident occurred on October 1, 2018 in an unknown region of Jordan.
A court heard that the murder was the final dire step in a catalog of child abuse by the woman. Court records found that she “often beat and mistreated the children”.
The court has now ruled that the stepmother was believed to have poured boiling water into a bathtub and put the two-year-old boy in it.
She removed him when the boy started screaming and he was taken to a nearby hospital with first degree burns, according to court records.
The boy died of his injuries a fortnight later.
The woman was arrested by a lower court in November 2019, but her legal team challenged the verdict.
The Jordanian Supreme Court has now upheld a 20-year sentence and ruled that the defendant was given the appropriate sentence for killing the boy.
