D.C. to end academic year early

Mayor Muriel Bowser said today that the Washington, DC school year will end at the end of next month as schools across the country adjust their timetables due to the pandemic.

The school buildings remain closed until the end of the school year Distance learning ends on May 29thBowser said at a press conference. Charter schools are closed around the same time. The academic year was originally planned until June 19.

The District Office of the State Superintendent waives a rule that prescribes 180 teaching days for all students, as well as requirements for community service and seat requirements that are required for a university degree.
