Slava Matrosov found repulsive and graphic footage on Oleg Sviridov’s phone showing his pal forcing his daughter to perform a sex act on him – Oleg apparently being forced to dig his own grave

Russia: Child molester’s grave empty after exhumation

A distraught father who attacked his best friend when he found out the man had sexually abused his then six-year-old daughter must not be charged with murder.

Vyacheslav (Slava) Matrosov, 34, was suspected of stabbing Oleg Sviridov, 32, in a forest.

He is said to have killed him after tricking the sex offender into digging his own grave.

Sviridov was found dead after Matrosov found disgusting and graphic footage on his friend’s cellphone showing Sviridov forcing his daughter to perform a sex act with him.

Matrosov originally faced a murder investigation over his alleged involvement in Sviridov’s death.

But now he has been told that has been dropped, say sources close to the case.

In a landmark decision, he is now being prosecuted for inciting Sviridov to commit suicide, which carries a lesser penalty than murder.

There has been a wave of public support for Matrovov in the Samara region of Russia after he was linked to the killing of suspected pedophile Sviridov.

Locals in the village of Pribrezhny raised money for his initial legal fees.

A petition signed by 2,500 people called for his full acquittal.

They supported him for “saving our children by ridding us of a child molester.”

Prominent TV journalist and former Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak told her supporters: “All parents stand up for the killer of the pedophile.”

The explicit sexual abuse footage on Sviridov’s cell phone was filmed when the girl was six years old.

His daughter, now eight, could be heard pleading: “Oleg, that’s enough, I can’t take it anymore.

“I want to go home”.

Matrosov, a former rocket engine factory worker, has always denied the murder.

He is now said to be “delighted” that he is not facing charges of premeditated killing of Sviridov.

He also no longer needs to wear an electronic tag as he awaits trial this year.

He is prosecuted for “instigating or attempting suicide by threats or ill-treatment,” which carries a minimum sentence of six years – like life imprisonment for murder – but often no prison sentence.

Sources close to the case said detailed forensic evidence showed Matrosov did not stab Sviridov to death in a forest where the dead man’s body was later found in a makeshift grave.

Matrosov is prosecuted for “inciting suicide or attempted suicide by threats or abuse.”

There are claims that Sviridov was given an ultimatum to go to the police and confess to sexually abusing the girl or face the father’s wrath.

A relative said Sviridov was seen badly beaten on the day he disappeared in September, more than a week before his body was found in the makeshift grave near the village of Vintai.

It is feared that two other children in the village of Sviridov were abused.
