English football legend David Beckham turned to Good Morning’s Kate Garraway to help her and her family when husband Derek Draper was in a coma in the hospital.
Beckham recorded personal encouragement messages for children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 11, last year, which Kate unveiled in her new book, Kate Garraway: The Power Of Hope, published by the Mail on Sunday.
The TV host said David, 45, reached her on Instagram after Derek fell into a coma.
Kate writes in her book, “I didn’t get a chance to check out social media, so it was Darcey and Billy who spotted them and squealed with joy.
“I sent him back, thanked him and said the kids loved it.”
Revealing that the father of four sent personalized videos to encourage their children during the difficult time, Kate wrote, “He sent each of them a personal video – words of encouragement and fun.
“He said he was thinking about his own children and how they might feel.”
Derek spent more than a year in the hospital after Covid-19 ravaged his body and was only let home this month.
Her family home has been specially adapted and Derek needs constant care.
