A man died on his first day at work after delivering an order to a ninth-floor apartment before stepping into an empty elevator shaft.
The tragic death of the father of four children was reported in Adana, Turkey.
Nail Polat, 47, had just started work in a newly opened grocery store, according to the national newspaper Ensonhaber.
He had gone to deliver a cart full of goods to Murat Akkol’s house.
But when he went to the elevator after placing the order, he entered the car backwards – but the elevator was on a higher floor and he fell to his death.
An ambulance and police team was sent to the scene after residents reported the situation.
The health team reportedly found that Mr Polat, who fell from a height of around 30 meters, died on the scene.
His body was removed by firefighters after the crime scene investigation and taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
The police are still investigating the incident.
There is no further information on how the elevator doors could open when the elevator wasn’t there.
