A Coles supermarket shopper furiously attacked the chain, saying she was “disgusted that you just made me buy and eat chicken”.
A vegan supermarket customer hit the store and claimed that she was “tricked” into eating chicken because it was placed on the freezer shelves.
The shopper, who visited Australian supermarket chain Coles, used social media to say that chicken products had been added to vegan foods, leading her to believe they were meat free.
A picture of the freezer shows plant-based burgers, plant-based meatballs, and vegetable dim sims, with boxes of ‘I’m Free From’ chicken nuggets and chicken tenders on a shelf in between – however, the chicken items are gluten-free, not meat – free like the other foods around, 7News reported.
Devastated after sticking into the chicken thinking it was vegan safe, the buyer asked the chain on Twitter, “Is it intended that you put non-vegan items on the shelf between two vegan items?

“I’m disgusted that you just got me to buy and eat chicken while we are all trying so hard to save the planet.
A Coles spokesman told the news agency that they are investigating their claims and are committed to offering more options to vegan customers.
They said in a statement: “We have a growing number of customers choosing to buy vegan and meat alternatives, and we are working hard to expand this range to meet their needs.
“If possible, we group similar items together, but this is not always possible due to the different shelf space and layouts in our branches throughout our network
“We are concerned about this customer’s experience and have referred this issue to the National Grocery Space Department for review.”
