Downing Street has declined a report that Boris Johnson is making time for a nap in his diary.
The Prime Minister’s press secretary Allegra Stratton told reporters, “The Prime Minister is not napping. These reports are false. “
She spoke after “a Downing Street insider” who “knows the Prime Minister well”. told the Times “It wouldn’t be entirely uncommon for him to close the door in the diary and take a kip for about half an hour – a nap with the power executive to prepare him for the rest of the day.”
But Ms. Stratton, his new press secretary and former Newsnight reporter, refused.
She said, “He doesn’t nap during the day when he’s on Downing Street … his day is full from early morning until late at night.”
The Times said this morning that the prime minister goes jogging in Buckingham Palace gardens at 6 a.m. every day before reading the papers and notifying colleagues over breakfast.
“He’s keeping his own time,” an official was quoted as telling the Times.
