Driver filmed chugging bottle of wine just seconds before 'causing pile up'

A driver was filmed chugging a bottle of wine behind the steering wheel within seconds before allegedly creating a pile.

The driver could be seen in the driver’s seat of a silver car as she sat down on a bottle of red wine.

A man who was filming nearby said it was “amazing” and said he saw her pull out the bottle and lower it all at once.

Sam Mangan, who was turning the clip, said, “She actually pulled out a full bottle of wine, sat back and drank the entire bottle at once.

“It was amazing.”

Shortly after Mr Mangan recorded the video, the woman was allegedly involved in a three-car bunch and returned a blood alcohol level of 0.276 – five times the legal limit.

After the accident, the 49-year-old woman is said to have had her keys taken from another driver when the police were called.

It is believed that no one was seriously injured in the accident.

Mr Mangan uploaded the clip he shot to Instagram out of horror at the woman’s dangerous actions.

He told news.com.au that he had received mixed feedback, and some said he shouldn’t have filmed them “without knowing the story” for their actions.

However, Mr Mangan said it is “everyone’s business” when it comes to preventing people from going over the limit.

One social media user said, “You posted with no history – agreed she shouldn’t drive drunk, but now you don’t know anything about what this woman went through that day.”

Mr. Mangan responded by saying, “If you drink enough to be supposedly five and a half times the legal limit and get behind the wheel of a car, it will be everyone’s business to stop you.”

“If you’re stupid enough to drink Drive, you deserve to be caught.”

Mr. Mangan said he was “just glad this all ended without anyone getting hurt”.
