Eminem opens ‘Mom's Spaghetti’ restaurant inspired by his own song lyrics

Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant has officially opened – and the rapper has even appeared to serve his first customers.

The 48-year-old American rapper and record producer’s long-awaited pasta shop has finally started operations.

The permanent venue was created in collaboration with the Union Joints Restaurant Group and brings one of the songwriter’s best-known lyrics to life: His palms are sweaty, his knees are weak, his arms are heavy / He already has vomit on his sweater, mom’s spaghetti. “

These lines are taken from the legendary song “Lose Yourself”, a popular hip-hop hit that featured on the soundtrack to Eminem’s film “8 Mile” and stayed at number one for 12 weeks in a row.

The hotel is located on 2131 Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit. Mom’s spaghetti consists of a walk-in window in an alley and a small bodega room with limited customer seating.

A number of Eminem fans showed up for the grand opening at 5 p.m., with the opening line reportedly lining several blocks.

The infamous rapper was also present at the official launch.

Eminem posed for selfies with a number of customers, with his signature stone expression - and even made the middle finger all in one.

The concept originally launched as a pop-up at Detroit’s The Shelter music venue in 2017 and later re-emerged alongside Eminem’s appearances at Coachella, Firefly, and Governor’s Ball in 2018, and delivered food to frontline caregivers during the pandemic.

The new store’s menu is heavily pasta-focused, including Spaghetti for $ 9 (around £ 6.67), Spaghetti w / Balls for $ 12 (£ 8.91), and “w / Vegan Balls” for $ 14 (£ 10.39) and ‘S’ghetti Sandwich’ for $ 11 (about £ 8.17).

The drinks are either ‘pop’ or water to choose from, each for $ 3 (about £ 2.23).

Eminem's restaurant "Mom's spaghetti" is in downtown Detroit, down an alley.

Above the new restaurant is also a retail space called “The Trailer” which sells limited and sold out collectibles and memorabilia from the Eminem archives.

A opinion from Paul Rosenberg, Manager at Eminem, said: “We had a lot of fun putting this project together with the people at Union Joints and the response from the fans has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to see if there was any enthusiasm for a regular Mom’s Spaghetti spot that is open all year round.

“We are very excited to announce the arrival of the walk-in restaurant and adjoining store upstairs called The Trailer, where fans can experience a uniquely curated environment and purchase merch and other items from Eminem and its new pasta operation.”
