Harry Lennix says he wants to see Martian Manhunter take on the Joker in Justice League 2. Lennix played General Calvin Swanwick of DC Extended Universe on Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; many lovers who theorize that his character was J’onn J’onn aka the Martian Manhunter in disguise. Snyder’s 4-hour version of Justice League confirmed this through a series of scenes, such as the one in which beloved hero visits Bruce Wayne / Batman after the Knightmare series.
The Snyder Cut features more characters than its theatrical counterpart, possibly the strangest of which is Jared Leto’s revitalized Joker, who appears in an apocoliptic future where Superman has succumbed to the Anti-Life equation. The scene between him, Batman and other members of this League hints at plans for leaving Snyder-Verse since then. When Bruce awakens from his nightmare, he is visited by the Martian Manhunter, who informs Bruce “a war is coming” that he is here to help.
Lennix was asked which member of the League he would most like to find an opportunity to interact with and which DC villain he would like to include in Justice League 2. While saying he would like to interact with Wonder Woman and Superman because that would be the case. Great to see that relationship grow, Lennix spoke about the choice to visit Bruce Wayne. Martian Manhunter seems interested in people who aren’t metahumans, which translates to the actor’s desire to see his character compete with one of their most twisted characters in comic book history:
“I would somehow accept the Joker, you know what I mean? I would choose the Joker instead of that kind of alien. The Joker is just a madman, which would be very fascinating to continue.”
Believe it or not, Martian Manhunter and the Joker have gotten into the comics together before, literally. In JLA # 11, when fighting the Injustice Gang (also featured in Snyder’s Justice League), Martian Manhunter changes his mind to think like the Joker and starts thinking like a supervillain. Then, in JLA # 15 (1998), Martian Manhunter uses his telepathic power to control the Joker’s mind to recover the reality-distorting Philosopher’s Stone, which the Clown Prince of Crime has used to make a “ten thousand mile smile. from South America to Asia Minor. ”During Martian Manhunter’s manipulation, the Joker is healed of his madness.
Martian Manhunter has previously described the Joker’s head as a “raging storm.” It would be extremely exciting to find a character with an affinity for humanity, who is cynical like Superman, and trying to dissect an adversary who embodies our moral and philosophical traps – the mind itself is as smooth as superpowers. Probably even more than Batman, Martian Manhunter knows his teammates and their villains’ galleries. Lennix would certainly have played a big role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League sequel. Like Leto, whose Joker signed a truce with Affleck’s Batman, Lennix’s character has a stake in the world that Darkseid wants to conquer. That said, it is uncertain if Martian Manhunter is still alive in the Knightmare deadline. Regardless, reluctant friend or foe, lovers would love to see Martian Manhunter and the Joker in Justice League 2.
