A former flight attendant who had sex with a 15-year-old student was released after spending just a week behind bars.
Melissa Nosti had sex with the teenage student at a school where she worked as an attendance officer in 2010 when she was around 23 years old.
Last week, the former Tiger Air flight attendant was sentenced to 18 months in prison with a six-month sentence without parole after pleading guilty.
After spending just a week in prison, the 33-year-old was released when her lawyer successfully bailed her. She argued that she was “low risk” of re-offending and could successfully find employment.
Judge Susan Horan said a victim impact statement from Nosti’s victim was “mandatory” before granting her bail.
Nosti, from North Ryde, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, was instructed to observe a number of conditions while she is in the ward Daily telegraph reported.
She appeared in court on Wednesday via video link from a women’s prison in Silverwater after her attorney appealed on bail.
The lawyer told the court that according to a medical report, Nosti had a “low risk” of another offense.
The attorney also said, “She has an employment history after that.
“She was in the aviation industry.”
Nosti has been released and is due to return for an appeal in court later that year.
She is allowed to have a mobile phone on bail, but must give the police the password if asked to do so.
She is not allowed to communicate with her victim and is not allowed to be in the company of anyone under the age of 16.
She must live at her address in Ryde.
