Even so, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Who later appeared on the same CNN show, wasn’t convinced.
“I appreciate that [Clegg’s] ready to talk about things, but now is the time to act, ”said Klobuchar.
Privacy legislation is a first step, the senator said, explaining, “If you want to share all of your private information, you need to log in and make an actual decision.”
Another measure to be taken is to make Facebook’s algorithms transparent, a point on which Clegg agreed. “We need more transparency so that the systems we have should be held accountable by regulation when necessary,” he said.
The average social media user spends 145 minutes a day on different platforms. And when asked how much a person should spend on Facebook and Instagram, Clegg said, “Like everything good in life, I would do it in moderation.”
