First Masked Singer revealed as new series begins

The first celebrity crooner in the new series of the Masked Singer has been unveiled.

Half of the 12 new characters made their debut when the popular show’s latest season kicked off on Saturday.

Mushroom, Robobunny, Lionfish, Firework, Donuts and Chandelier revealed the latter as M People front woman Heather Small.

Small, known for hits of the ’90s including Moving On Up and Search For The Hero, said the panel’s guesses were “hilarious because they were so wrong”.

TV presenter Davina McCall, singer Rita Ora, broadcaster Jonathan Ross and comedian Mo Gilligan have all returned to guess the identities of the stars in disguise who appear before them in lavish costumes.

Comedian Joel Dommett is back as host of what ITV describes as “the most bizarre guessing game on television”.

The program will return on Sunday evening when the remaining new characters – bagpipes, rockhopper, poodle, panda, snow leopard, and traffic cone – sing for the first time.

– The Masked Singer on ITV and ITV Hub continues on Sunday at 7.30 p.m.
