Fortnite Season 3 release date, start time and new battlepass

All good things must come to an end, but in this case, gamers across the world are eagerly anticipating the introduction of Fortnite Battle Royale: Chapter 2, Season 3.

The newest season in the popular game saga begins less than 48 hours after Tuesday evening’s epic live event called ‘The Device’. It was watched by 20 million people around the world.

The creators at Epic Games tweeted: “We were overwhelmed by the response to The Device. At 12m players in-game, we capped participation for stability while 8.4M more watched live on Twitch and YouTube.

“As we push the edge of what live-events can be, we’re improving systems so more of you can experience them in-game.”

A major noticeable change so far is the storm has changed – it’s now a huge tsunami surrounding the map.

Season 3 is set to kick-off after the server downtime which will take place around 9am in the UK on Wednesday, June 17, morning.

Leaks have already been teased including a spaceman holding a moon and a sinking boat.

Just like Season 2 with the Deadpool theme, and more than just a cameo, it looks like Aquaman will play a major role in Season 3.

Aquaman actor Jason Momoa tagged Fortnite in an Instagram post after the game’s account posted a picture of the character’s golden Trident.

There will be definitely room for lots of underwater swimming and allow players to ‘ride the storm’ by swimming up and down it while taking damage at the same time.

It shouldn’t be too surprising to see a battlepass water theme with large amounts of water flooding the map this week.

Another teaser image has not been deciphered yet but those guessing it might be the moon have been told otherwise by a message from an Epic-linked Reddit account.

The message reads: “While space may seem like a great escape to avoid getting drenched, No Sweat reminds you that it lies outside of our coverage area. Stick with us on the Island.

“Yes, there’s a towering wall of water there, and yes, you probably want to know if we cover water damage and boat rentals, and yes, we thank you for your interest in No Sweat.”

Other guesses include the zoomed-in bumpy image being that of a Marine Mine, which would certainly fit in with the nautical theme.
