One gamer found out he won a life changing sum of money while waiting for his PlayStation to charge.
When winning the National Lottery, 21-year-old James Evans won £ 10,000 a month for 30 years after selecting winning numbers for the Set For Life online through the National Lottery app Birmingham Live.
The paver ran into a friend the day he found out he had won the Set For Life grand prize in the December 28th raffle, but kept his incredible news a secret a little longer.
“I woke up Tuesday morning and forgot all about the Set For Life ticket I bought the day before,” he said.

“I worked consistently throughout the pandemic and was very busy. That’s why I enjoyed a break during the Christmas break.
“I turned on my PlayStation, ready to play a game, and checked my email while waiting for it to load.
“I got an email from The National Lottery saying I had won a prize, but I didn’t think too much about it as I won £ 5 not so long ago.
Observe: what happens if you win the lottery?
“I checked the National Lottery app and found that I found all five main numbers and the Life Ball. I could not believe it. I ran to my mom to check it out, but she wasn’t sure either. “
A few days after the win, James was enjoying some New Year’s Eve parties with friends, drinking drinks and playing virtual games, and still managed to keep his win a secret.
He eventually told his friends who were “so happy and shocked,” and then James began planning what to do with his winnings, including a ski trip to Canada with his family and a trip to Alaska.
“I’ll stay home for now and think about what I want to do,” said James.
If your ticket or scratch card barcode cannot be scanned by your local retailer and there are no visible signs of damage, the first step should be to ensure that there are no problems with the lottery terminal. An employee should be able to inform you of any error messages displayed. If there is another lottery dealer nearby, you can see if you can successfully claim your prize there instead.
The most commonly reported damages are:
- Cracks and Tears – Tickets can get caught in pockets or pockets, tearing the numbers or barcode.
- Water damage – usually caused by a trip through the washing machine. This can be more serious as the ink can flow and the text becomes illegible. In the worst case, the ticket will be completely destroyed.
Even if your ticket is damaged or destroyed, you may still be able to make a valid claim within 30 days of the draw date by filing a complaint.
You’ll need to send the following information to [email protected]
- Date, time and place when the ticket was purchased.
- The game, e.g. EuroMillions or Lotto and the draw date for which the ticket was purchased
- The date you believe a prize was won
- How many entries have you bought and what numbers are included in each?
- As you think the ticket was damaged / destroyed
“My dad loved me and he doesn’t want me to work for him for the rest of his life, but I’ll always be there to help him whatever I want to do in the future.
“At the moment I don’t need or want anything, even though I’ve looked at a new computer.
“Due to the pandemic, I couldn’t do any of my sports. So my Playstation kept me busy.
“Play badminton at a professional level and volunteer at my local badminton club to coach younger kids. This is something I love and am very proud of, and I can’t wait to get back into coaching. “
“I never thought I would actually win, but you have to be there to win, as they say.”
