A man armed with a knife has been shot by police at Gare du Nord train station in Paris, according to reports.

The incident occurred at around 7am local time on Monday, with officers then setting up a security perimeter.

A video posted to Twitter appears to capture several officers with guns drawn before shots are heard.

The camera pulls away as panicked commuters look on.

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin tweeted this morning: “This morning around 7 am, a police patrol was threatened by an individual armed with a knife in public transport in the Ile-de-France region.

“The police used their weapon, thus removing any danger, for themselves and for the travellers.”

There is no indication that the incident was a terror attack, according to CNews.

A source reportedly told the French news outlet that no terrorist remarks were made by the man.

His knife allegedly bore the inscription “ACAB”, an anti-police slogan standing for “All Cops Are Bastards”.

Two police officers are said to have been involved in the incident with the suspect said to have approached them wielding a blade of around 30cm.

The man’s condition is unclear.

No injuries were reported among the police.
