Girls aged 2 and 3 rushed to hospital after dog attack

Two young girls were hospitalized after being attacked by an escaped guard dog, police said.

The two girls, ages two and three, were injured in the incident, but their condition is not life-threatening.

West Midlands Police officers were called to the incident on St. Savior’s Road in Birmingham shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday.

The guard dog is believed to have fled the nearby business premises before attacking the two girls, reports the Press Association.

Police say the three-year-old was injured with hand and leg injuries from a bite, and the two-year-old has scratch marks and a leg injury.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said both children received treatment on site before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

He said their conditions were not life threatening.

Police say the animal was confiscated.
