Boradcaster Mike Parry enraged Good Morning Britain viewers after voicing his thoughts on what kind of dog should be suitable for being knocked out.
Parry was on the show with hosts Kate Garraway and Alex Beresford to discuss the devastating canine attack that fatally injured a beloved Thames seal earlier this week.
Wildlife presenter and conservationist Chris Packham also joined the panel to provide his views on the incident, arguing that dogs should only be removed from the leash if they are well trained, controlled pets on their orders Hear the owner.
Current UK laws do not require dogs to be kept on a leash in public places.
Chris said it was hard to blame the dog for “… having this natural instinct” to hunt, hunt, or disturb wildlife and urged owners to be more aware and to act control what their dog is doing, but Chris’ words did little to alleviate veteran journalist Mike Parry shook his head.
In response to Chris’ point of view, Mike said to Kate and Alex, “Well, I’ll tell you what, I’m more scared of dogs now than I was before this interview!
“Chris explains that instinct in dogs is the fact that they come from wolves, blimey, the way Chris spoke and described it. I would look at every dog in the country to see that it kind of wasn’t was. ” At some point it won’t be violent anymore.
“I totally accept what Chris says about dogs, which are social and lovely cuddly toys.
“But for the first time they are showing an attitude that is antisocial, that is actually dangerous, that is actually threatening humans, and remember, we rule the planet, dogs don’t, so we have to be able to.” Take care of us to rule the planet. The first time the dog shows aggression, you need to put it down.
“There shouldn’t be an appeals court, I don’t understand why people want to fight to save the lives of dogs that inflict harm and terror on people.
“Whenever a dog growls, you can be intimidated and scared. It’s not good to say to me, ‘Well, it growls at strangers’ and all that is an instant warning to a human,’ Wait a minute, I might have a problem here, I’m in a state of terror now, this dog might attack me. ‘”
Kate finally managed to interrupt Mike’s speech when the panel ran out of time. She admitted that the two would not agree on their thoughts on what is appropriate for a dog to be euthanized.
However, GMB viewers quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Mike’s attitude.
One person tweeted, “My cockerpoo pulled me over yesterday and broke my wrist. Does that mean he’s dangerous?” Another added, “This man aggressively says that dogs should be knocked down if they act aggressively? otherwise see the irony ??? “.
A third tweeted: “” People rule the planet, not dogs! “What an absolutely hideous statement.” Before another said, “Wow, this man is extreme. I’m a bit scared of dogs too, but strangely enough, they seem to love me.
“Insane to talk about putting them down. Accuse the owners of losing control of dogs.”
Another tweeted, “Mike Parry on #GMB I was just suggesting that dogs should be knocked down when they growl … and that’s enough TV for me today. ”
Good morning UK returns with ITV every weekday from 6am.
