GMB host Kate Garraway brought her husband home from the hospital after working with Covid-19 in March 2020.
Derek Draper has reportedly been machine taken and is being cared for at the Garraway residence in north London, where he was driven in an ambulance on Wednesday (April 7).
The 53-year-old has been fighting for his life for a year and it is now reported that he will be allowed to continue his recovery at home.
Kate and the couple’s children – 11-year-old Billy and 15-year-old Darcey – have been warned that he is still facing a “long and arduous” battle for full health. reports MirrorOnline.
A friend told The sun: “Kate has dreamed about this day for so long and cannot thank wonderful NHS staff enough.”
They added, “The children, who were so remarkably resilient, were so happy to have their father at home. There were many happy tears from everyone.”
According to the friend, Derek and Kate are stronger than ever after his worrying health battle, adding, “She has been such a rock and a total inspiration to anyone in Britain battling their own horror stories of the harmful disease.”
After Derek was hospitalized last March, he was placed in an induced coma that lasted 13 weeks.
He awoke from it in July, but his recovery will reportedly be a slow process as the virus “attacked everything”, leaving him with blood clots in his lungs, holes in his heart and diabetic.
Doctors have warned Kate that Derek may never recover from the damage done to his body.
The devastating news of Derek’s condition led Kate to take an extended vacation from GMB to be with her family before returning to the show defiantly with her head held high in July.
