Government science advisor on best way to avoid lockdown 4

A government science advisor says Lockdown 4 in England is a real possibility.

Professor Stephen Reicher, a member of the Scientific Pandemic Insights Group on Conduct (SPI-B), which advises the government, says any mistakes made now will have dire consequences.

When asked whether there is a risk of a new blockage if the creation of this blockage is not handled properly, Prof. Reicher told PA: “Of course there is.

“Just as we didn’t want a second suspension, we didn’t want a third suspension either.” We kept repeating the same mistake.

“We took an approach where we waited a long time to find ourselves in a crisis and then we have to take these immediate measures.”

“In the end, robust and routine measures fail. If we had a working track and trace system, if we had support for people to self-isolate, if we had safe spaces, we would not have seen things get out of hand. “

He said there needs to be a “comprehensive virus suppression strategy” and that the debate is too focused on lifting restrictions.

He added, “Nothing is about keeping infection down when those restrictions are gone so we don’t get into trouble again.”
