A seven-year-old girl wrote a note to her mother that her swim coach was holding her between her legs during a class and moving his fingers, a court heard.
The girl said she was uncomfortable while attending class with Kyle James Henk Daniels, 22, and asked to be transferred to a different swimming class.
Her concerned mother contacted the internal management of the Mosman Swim Center in Sydney, Australia and a subsequent police investigation was initiated.
He was arrested the following month in March 2019, and after the case was publicized, six other girls came forward and made similar incidents. Mail online Reports.
Daniels, 22, pleaded not guilty to 26 charges before a jury, including nine cases of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.
In the opening speech in the district court on Monday, prosecutors said Daniels touched several of his students on or near their genitals when he was their coach between February 2018 and February 2019.
The court heard that he was an “overly vigorous” swimming instructor and a concerned parent first raised concerns about him in July 2018.
Parents told staff that their daughter complained that he touched her chest and thighs during class.
Management watched Daniels’ next class and noticed his “hands-on” approach, which they felt was too tight.
They also said he was “overly energetic” and “too kind with children in his class”.
All teachers received a memo from management warning them not to keep children near the groin and chest area. They must always have their hands above water and appropriately positioned on the body.
However, the police were called in when the girl sent the message to her mother.
The prosecution showed the jury a sentence on a piece of pink paper that read, “The reason I didn’t like my swimming lesson was because my teacher touched my (vagina).”
Some of the six girls who answered couldn’t name Daniels, but they described their instructor as having blonde hair and glasses.
Daniels was the only trainer allowed to wear glasses during class.
The court was told that one girl said she was “excited about advancing a class so she could no longer touch her private parts”.
The trial continues before Judge Kara Shead.
