Health minister: French lockdown could last longer than 15 days

Macron announced a nationwide ban for at least 15 days last week to intensify the country’s fight against the virus.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe on Monday announced These stricter restrictions would be needed and would come into effect on Tuesday to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The country had reported more than 22,300 cases with 1,100 deaths on Tuesday. The Paris region and the eastern region of Alsace are most affected. More than 10,000 people are hospitalized and 2,516 are in the intensive care unit.
