Here are the latest Covid rates for every local authority area in England

Here is the update of the Covid-19 case rates for each area in England on Thursday.

The numbers for the seven days leading up to March 21 are based on tests conducted in laboratories (Pillar 1 of the government’s testing program) and in the wider community (Pillar 2).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the past four days (March 22-25) has been excluded because it is incomplete and does not reflect the actual number of cases.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 132 (42%) have seen case rates increase, 173 (55%) have decreased and 10 are unchanged (3%).

Corby in Northamptonshire has the highest rate in England. In the seven days ending March 21, 138 new cases were recorded – the equivalent of 191.1 cases per 100,000 people.

This corresponds to 191.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in the seven days up to March 14th.

Barnsley has the second highest rate with 457 new cases from 174.2 to 185.1.

North Lincolnshire has the third highest rate with 278 new cases from 139.3 to 161.4.

The five areas with the greatest increase from week to week are:

  • Derbyshire Dales (from 35.9 to 102.3)
  • West Lindsey (74.2 to 122.3)
  • Rugby (67.0 to 112.9)
  • Broxtowe (56.1 to 94.7)
  • Dudley (51.9 to 86.1)

The list was calculated by the PA News Agency based on data from Public Health England released on the government’s coronavirus dashboard on March 25.
