Here are the very latest Covid rates for every local area in England

Here is the update of the Covid-19 case rates for all local government in England on Tuesday.

The numbers for the seven days ending April 23 are based on the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test after the sample date.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the last four days (April 24-27) have been excluded because they are incomplete and do not reflect the actual number of cases.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 163 (52%) have seen rates increase, 143 (45%) have decreased and nine are unchanged.

Selby continues to have the highest rate with 100 new cases in the seven days ending April 23 – that’s 110.4 cases per 100,000 people.

That is an increase of 51.9 in the seven days ending April 16.

Kirklees has the second highest rate with 310 new cases with 6110 to 70.5.

Doncaster has the third highest value with 207 new cases from 78.2 to 66.4.

The five areas with the greatest increases from week to week are:

  • Selby (from 51.9 to 110.4)
  • Cambridge (40.1 to 64.1)
  • Chiltern (5.2 to 25.0)
  • Gravesham (10.3 to 28.1)
  • Rugby (31.2 to 48.7)

The list was calculated by the PA News Agency based on data from Public Health England released on the government’s coronavirus dashboard on April 27.
