Hospitalisations triple in one area as 37% of England sees rise in Covid

The number of people hospitalized with Covid in Bolton has more than tripled, according to information The mirror.

NHS England figures show the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust treated 24 Covid patients on May 18. A month earlier, on April 18, it was 13.

MEN is aware that 43 patients are currently being treated for the virus at Royal Bolton Hospital. Ten more people have been admitted since Sunday.

Two Covid-19-related deaths were recorded last week at the Royal Bolton NHS Trust, bringing the total number of those who have lost their lives to the virus in Bolton to 650.

The government has introduced new rules in eight areas of the UK, including Bolton.

You do not recommend traveling in or out of the areas, holding meetings indoors, and staying away from anyone you do not live with.

Advanced testing is also recommended. Bolton is one of the areas where the Indian variant of Covid has spread rapidly.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 116 (37%) have seen rates increase, 185 (59%) have decreased and 14 are unchanged.

Bolton in the Greater Manchester area continues to have the highest rate of 1,296 new cases in the seven days to May 20 – the equivalent of 450.7 cases per 100,000 population.

This is from 282.4 in the seven days through May 13th.

Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire has the second highest rate of 420 new cases from 114.2 to 280.6.
