Instagram: The start of last week was certainly hectic, because only in the afternoon, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram suffered a historic drop of nearly 6 hours of interruption in their services. And when their services go down, it’s typical that you can’t open the app, or you come in and the UI opens, but you can’t send anything, upload anything, etc.
Fortunately, we have websites such as DownDetector, which inform us when an online service, platform or application has problems or is immediately offline. But his thing is, it was the apps we consulted that did that. And it’s exactly what Instagram going to do.
Instagram will notify you if the service is not available
As reported on his official blog, on Instagram they’re testing a new feature that will notify you in your activity feed when the IG service is experiencing an outage or technical issue, and of course when it’s resolved.
According to Instagram “We won’t notify you every time there’s an outage, but if we see people confused and looking for answers, we’ll determine if something like that can help clarify things.” This test is being conducted in the United States and will be completed in the coming months. And as is often the case with new features, depending on how successful you are, you can extend your test and eventually arrive as a new feature in the app.
