Piers Morgan is “irreplaceable,” and ITV has focused its work on keeping viewers, says the broadcaster’s boss.
Kevin Lygo, ITV television director, has admitted that there isn’t a single person in the showbiz world who can replace the outspoken presenter.
Mr Morgan split from Good Morning Britain last month after storming off the set in the middle of a live show. reports the mirror.
The one-time national newspaper editor reacted after confronted by weatherman Alex Beresford over a sizzling gossip against Meghan Markle.
Mr Lygo has now opened the lid on how ITV plans to close the gaping hole that piers have left and get viewers excited about the future.
It has started switching fans’ favorite presenters including Ben Shephard, Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway to keep fans happy at home.
Mr. Lygo told Deadline: “Piers is a special thing. You cannot replace someone like him. There is no one like Piers, good or bad.
“We have a list of presenters, including Ben Shephard, Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins, and Kate Garraway.
“They are all on the rise, doing a few days more than they would have. We’ll mix and match until we feel what is right. There isn’t a single person who can replace him.”
There was no bad blood between the two when Mr. Lygo admitted that he hates falling out with people.
In fact, the ITV boss was surprised that the presenter had stayed with GMB for so long and joked that they had a “good run”.
