Jamie Oliver's 'Sunday dinner' has infuriated Gogglebox stars

When it comes to preparing a feast, not many would argue with Jamie Oliver – aside from the Gogglebox cast.

The show on Friday (March 19) featured a whole range of TV snacks from Baywatch to CBeebies.

But it was an offer from TV chef Jamie Oliver that left goggle boxers with a bad taste.

The trouble started when the restaurateur and chef said on one of his cooking shows that a roast needs fried potatoes – but that he cooks lentils.

The Siddiqui family in Derby spoke for the whole of Britain when they said, “Imagine if you got potatoes and someone served you lentils … you were like ‘out’.”

Jamie, who goes on to say the French are big lentil fans, is yelled at by Ellie and Izzi Warners at home when Izzi yells, “We’re not French, we’re British!”

The sofa stars weren’t the only ones making an exception to Jamie’s version of a roast.

Tosh wrote on Twitter: “Jamie Oliver just killed the good old British Sunday roast @ C4Gogglebox NO TO THE LEFT, VOTE ROASTING #Gogglebox#Sunday roast“”

Tweeter Claire Norma added, “Jamie Oliver, telling the British to eat lentils instead of fried potatoes, is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen #Gogglebox“”

  • Gogglebox is on Channel 4 on Fridays at 9 p.m.
